RP Style Questionnaire

Put this form in the History section of your profile. This form is optional--you may skip or delete any questions. To fill out your own, find the code here.

What are your favorite types of characters to play?

Satirical characters, xxTP characters (Myers Briggs) bc they're the best for witty sarcasm, snark, and ruffling people's feathers, tricksters, peculiar and abrasive characters, characters with hidden angst over some tragic backstory thing, badasses and assholes.

Really I'll play anything, but those are my favorite types. My least favorite types to play are nice, shy characters with tender, sensitive souls and victim characters. (இ﹏இ`。)

What are your favorite types of plots or relationships in RP?

I don't have any particular plots that I'm into more than the other, but give me all the conflict, please.

For relationships, I like pretty much anything as long as there's variety. I don't want to do ALL romance or ALL sibships or ALL bromances/sismances all the time. It's more about the characters involved and how they click. I do notice that most threads tend to be friendships, so I'd love to have some more hateships.

I only like romance under a couple conditions: 1) when it's organic and the characters just seem to spark together, and 2) when it's preplanned and we know it's headed towards major drama and/or fiery destruction. When I get the vibe that a player only wants romance or sex, then I tend to withdraw.

I do LOVE any type of pairings where characters are on the opposite side of a conflict, like double agents falling in love or some Death Eater/MLE ships. Basically, ships that are probably headed towards DOOM (or possibly redemption/corruption?)

What's your preferred post length? Preferred thread length?

Short and sweet. Sometimes even just an emoticon or gif makes me burst out laughing.

I don't post match, and I don't expect you to either. I don't mind if my writing partner tends to be more verbose, just as long as they don't take too many actions in their post, which I find difficult to respond to because it requires either post splicing or assuming my character is standing around like a vegetable the whole time.

For thread length--generally speaking, if a single scene in a thread takes over a month then I start getting antsy. If it goes into two months, I'm probably ready to wrap it up and close it with a Jedi hand wave. I prefer to start fresh when things drag.

How often do you post?

Almost every day. I usually don't let a thread go for more than 4 days without a reply.

How long should a writing partner wait before nudging you to respond to a thread?

Approximately 1 week. If it's a group thread or something that's urgent for a plot, then you can poke me within 1 day.

How do you feel about rapidfire?

Great! I love rapidfire. As long as I can get into that character's groove, I'm game for it. Just open up a chat PM with me and tag me whenever you reply. I'll let you know if I can rapid or not.

How do you feel about group threads?

When they're good, they're really fucking good, but that can be hard to accomplish. Basically, everyone in the thread has to be invested, posting regularly, giving the group thread priority over other threads, and ok with skipping someone slower who is holding up the action.

But usually someone ends up being slow and no one wants to step on their toes and the thread gets clogged up and churns to a halt, which is disappointing.

I'd love to try group threads between just two players making a ton of cameos with all their characters because then you don't have the logistical issues with things inevitably slowing down.

How much pre-planning vs. spontaneity do you like in your plots? Do you prefer to stick to the script or to deal with surprise curveballs?

I'll totally plan out a few seeds/relationships/history things to get the ball rolling, but I LOVE spontaneity and surprises! They're what make RP fun for me. I love when writing partners throw me curveballs and take threads into unexpected areas. Whatever's established via RP trumps planning, for me.

There are only a few cases where I try to stick to pre-planning, which is usually when I'm setting things up for a plot I'm GMing. If this is the case, I'll probably PM you and ask for an edit, but it's pretty rare that I won't be open to a curveball.

What's your comfort level regarding graphic scenes w/ violence, drug use, sex, etc? Any limits?

I don't have any particular triggers or limits; it just depends on how the content is handled.

What are some RP habits/styles/etc. that you love?

Humor. I love absurd, perverted humor, and characters that provide much comic relief by taking the piss.

I loooove when another writer can pick up on how much godmodding I like and use it to move characters along in a thread (ex. glossing over some actions and moving us to a different scene).

I love being trolled and trolling others with threadbombs. Just as long as the threadbomber posts often enough that the thread doesn't lose momentum, yes please.

What are some RP habits/styles/etc. that you avoid?

Post splicing is the devil. I can't do it and refuse to do it except in tiny amounts. I find it really awkward in terms of flow. I think it's more appropriate for longer posts with a bunch of actions, which I don't do. I'm more likely to assume the other character is talking like a motormouth and won't let my character get a word in edgewise, which is a quick way to get most of my characters to leave a thread.

I typically avoid providing many inner thoughts and feels in my narrative. For one, I prefer both my characters and others' to be mysterious mofos because surprise and unexpected twists are the fun of RP for me. Accidentally offending someone else's character because mine didn't read them correctly is FUN. Another reason is because the inner thoughts can be metagamed. Even if you're trying to avoid metagaming, it can be hard to separate IC & OOC knowledge and try to respond in a genuine, IC way to it, so I generally prefer not to know. The only time I write out inner thoughts is when the other character should know because the characters have history together and when my character has a terrible poker face.

IC/OOC line blurring and the butthurt that it can entail. Can we not. Getting weird over IC love triangles, cheating, etc. Noooo stahp.

Is there anything else you'd like your writing partners to know about you?

I'm kind of shitty at keeping up with a bunch of chat PMs at once. A lot of times I'm on my phone or afk even though it looks like I'm online, and I don't respond immediately. Or I'm trying to write tags and don't notice. I DON'T HATE YOU! Please try to ping me again or send an actual PM to my inbox.

DRARRY: Who tops?

Neither. They both cuddle each other and weep softly as their penises touch.
