Hermione Granger was absolutely thrilled when she learned that she was a witch, but never in a million years would she have known what was going to be in store for her. She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the first time just before her 12th birthday. There, she was sorted into Gryffindor House and met the boys who would become her best friends: Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Her time at Hogwarts was treasured even with all the dangerous happenings that seemed to accompany it. Highlights for Hermione during her time at Hogwarts include the founding of the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (S.P.E.W), her involvement in Dumbledore's Army, her appointment as Gryffindor house prefect, her outstanding marks on nine out of ten of her O.W.L.s. and eventually receiving her N.E.W.T.s.

The eleven year old girl who stepped into the halls of Hogwarts was nothing like the seventeen year old girl who stepped away from one of the most trying moments of her life, thankful to be alive. And though she knew that evil would never be truly gone from her world, she had helped countless others to prevent what would have been a truly bleak existence for Earth and it's inhabitants. She was truly relieved that Harry was still alive, that Ron was still by her side and that she was able to go back to somewhat of a normal life after the Battle of Hogwarts.

Always a true Academic, Hermione went back to school after Voldemort was defeated and studied hard to achieve her N.E.W.T.s. Though she was glad to be finishing her education, Hogwarts reminded her of many hurts over the years, though it also had brought her great happiness. She was torn when she finally moved on from those stone walls, but was thrilled to be joining Harry and Ron again as she took as she took a position at the Ministry in order to fight for the rights of magical beings everywhere.

Hermione had set up shop in front of the 'Head of Body Division' office all day. She had received word that morning that her request to hold an open forum for house-elves to voice their concerns and talk about potential freedom had been denied, and she was furious. Mr. Blaise Wilks had been in his office all day, most likely hoping that she would have left by now. His secretary eyed her wearily as she paced in front of her desk.

"Is he available to see me yet?" Hermione asked, strain apparent in her voice. She was trying to keep calm and the waiting was doing very little to nullify her anger.

"No, Miss Granger. I apologize. Perhaps if you'd like to-" The secretary began for the umpteenth time that morning. Hermione would not even let her finish, insisting that she could wait. His secretary nodded and went back to work, her nervous obviously taking a beating from the strong tension in the room. Less than ten minutes later, the Mr. Wilks' door opened and he stepped out. He cursed inwardly as he saw her, but plastered on a polite smile anyway.

"Miss Granger, good afternoon." He said, moving down the hall, along his way, several pieces of parchment and quills floating along behind him, writing out several documents. Hermione was hot on his heals, doing her best to avoid the madly scribbling objects.

"Mr. Wilks, I want to talk to you about the proposal that you denied earlier." She said, keeping up with him the best she could.

"The decision has been made, Miss Granger. Feel free to submit another proposal as soon as you see fit. I am a very busy man, and I have quite a lot to attend to today." He said, making sharp turns here and there as he went.

"This is the third time I have submitted the proposal!" She argued. "Last time you said you would be willing to work with me on this issue." She finally swatted one of the quills away from her face and moved to get in front of him. All movement was stopped abruptly as soon as she had accomplished this. Even the quills stopped writing. "House-elves deserve to have their voices heard."

He sighed slightly. "Look. The consensus is clear. The vast majority of house-elves do not want these freedoms, Miss Granger. You can not force the issue because you see fault with the way they live."

"They don't want it, because they don't see any other way! Their brainwashed into thinking this is how life works." She said, exasperated. "I just know that if we hold this forum, even once, there will be at least a handful of elves who are forward thinking enough to bring the discussion into light. You have the opportunity, in this day in age to be remembered for your courage work towards elf equality. Mr. Wilks, I beg of you... Let me do this. And if I am wrong, I will leave it be." She cringed at the last part of her speech, but was confident enough that she would find elves to be present. "Please."

He stared at her for what felt like years and finally consented. "Fine. Set it up." Hermione, beaming and smug, stepped to the side and Mr. Wilks with his flying documents way back on his way.

When not utterly filled to the brim with her work (which is rarely ever), Hermione's desk is immaculate. She is incredibly organized and always knows where everything is, no matter how cluttered the cubicle could get. On the desk she has pictures of her parents and a smattering of others featuring Harry, Ron, the Weasleys and many other close friends, both alive and dead, all bringing her workspace to life. She has clippings from her achievements in both Muggle Newspapers and the Quibbler attached to all the spare spaces. And she also has her certificates displayed nicely on the wall next to her desk.

She has a drawer dedicated solely to parchment and quills. She's a busy lady after all.
